Day 1 - Johannesburg - Kruger Park. On entering the Kruger National Park Gate which is in the south of the Kruger National Park, we start your open vehicle game drive with your ranger making your way up to camp for lunch. After lunch, now that it is a bit cooler you start your Kruger Park African safari with your first exciting game drive of the day, hoping to spot as many animals as possible before making our way to camp before the sun sets. After check in and making sure you are comfortable your guide will give you the time to meet him in the restaurant for dinner, and to explain the following day of your Kruger Park African safari activities.
Day 2 - Kruger Park. Your 5 day African safari starts as the sun rises increasing your chances of seeing Africa’s Big 5, we depart camp early morning offering the best possibility of spotting a prowling leopard or lions enjoying an early morning meal or marking territory along the road. After a leisurely breakfast at one of the Kruger picnic spots on the banks of the river we’ll continue with our game drive, this time stopping off at some of the water holes and dams that follow the line of the Sabi River.
Your game ranger is keeping an watchful eye on the sky for eagles soaring on the thermals. You’ll be amazed at the number of birds you will see – there are more than 500 species present in the Kruger Park. (During the heat of the day in the summer months we may return to camp mid-day and leave again three hours before gate closing time).
After a mid-day break and lunch we will depart once again on an afternoon game drive making our way to sit at a watering hole for a while and then making our way back to camp as the sun sets. Enjoy dinner once again at the restaurant and prepare yourself for the next days adventures on your Kruger Park African safari.
Day 3 - Kruger Park. This morning you will experience another early morning departure before the heat of the day, possibly spotting a few cats, rhinos and elephants along the way and watching the never to be forgotten African Sunrise. Your ranger listens to the radio to hear of any action taking place as well as keeping an ever watchful eye out for any sightings of kills along the way that could be happening or have already happened in the night.
During this portion of your 5 day African safari, huge herds of Buffalo can also be spotted enjoying the sweet early morning dew on the grass or just lying eating their cud keeping a watchful eye out for any predators in the area. After breakfast your game drive continues returning to camp once again by mid day for a break from the heat of the day , giving you time to relax by the pool or enjoy a good Siesta before embarking on your late afternoon game drive.
Day 4 - Kruger Park. The early bird catches the worm, or so they say, we are up early once again and full of energy as we face another morning in Africa this time your guide will be on the lookout for the cheetah if not already spotted on your previous mornings game drives and the elusive leopard and possibly a wild dog if not already spotted while on your Kruger Park African safari.
After breakfast its out and about again returning to camp mid day in order to have a break before getting ready to embark on your sundowner drive which is an exciting adventure hoping to spot as many nocturnal animals as possible. You return to camp in time for your last dinner under the African sky.
Day 5 - Kruger Park - Johannesburg. Your 5 day African safari is coming to an end, this is your last morning in the African bushveld enjoying a beautiful one last sunrise and possibly a glimpse of the Big 5 before enjoying breakfast. BEST TRIP EVER! I was very nervous about the whole idea of going on safari. Kruger National Park exceeded my expectations and much of that was down to my experience with Nhongo Safaris, I felt extremely safe and well looked after, Amanda our guide went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Under promise and over achieve she did!
I will be back and will be recommending Nhongo Safari’s to anyone who will listen!
Thank you again, I’d give you more stars if I could!
Our Nhongo Safari focused on seeing and learning about the park's animals and ecosystems. We saw the big five and so much more- a leopard in a tree with a kill, mating lions (interesting), elephants up close, black rhinos, a poached rhino (very sad), hyenas, hippos, giraffes... Our guide Amanda was dedicated and passionate about the park and its animals. Her experience and knowledge as a guide made the trip a once in a lifetime event. We were glad we chose the 7 day safari - there is so much to see. If you want to experience, the wildlife of Africa, Nhongo is a great choice.
From beginning to end all the staff we interacted with was great and professional. Booking was easy and straight forward. This was our first safari but it will surely wont be the last!.
But the highlight of the trip was our awesome guide, Michael. That guy sure loves his job and it shows!!!!. Very professional, knowledgeable and great fun!!!
Below is a review given by one of our clients on a "Six Day Safari".
We had a 6 days private safari with Nhongo. Our guide was Amanda and she was wanderful. She took care of everything, explain everything and was very knowlageable. We saw leopard and chita and many other animals.
Nhongo also upgrade our stay to ensure we will have wonderful time and we did.
Thank you Amanda and Verity for an unforgettable safari.
So frustrating... I am very very upset about the experience I just had with Nhongo Safaris. Kruger Park is amazing, please go there, it totally worth. I only chose the wrong agency to go with. Nhongo is super well rated however they charged my friends and I quite a lot of money and fit us 3 in a small room, even they had sold us 2 bedrooms. Nobody came to clean our room for the first day. The guide we had was good, can’t complain about him - Clint his name. My main issue was with the Nhongo’s management: Verity. I tried to wire them money before the trip taking place but it didn’t go through once my bank was seeing the wire transfer as potentially a fraud, I offered to pay locally and so Verity agreed with that. Unfortunately once I got there she changed wanted me to pay in cash only (it is a National Park, I couldn’t take 400usd out of a ATM where the daily limit is way lower). She made the chaos in my life, involved me in such an embarrassing situation that I will never forget. Ahe reached out to my friends chasing them for money, she ordered our guide to stop the car in the middle of the jungle until she got the money, pretty much she forced one of my friends to pay it on my behalf without asking me for it. There were 8 people in the pickup truck and everyone was watching the car stopped because of this. I have never felt so embarrassed and frustrated in my whole life. Even I said I could wire from another bank, pay it on a card machine, I offered to go to her office in Johannesburg, I offered plenty of alternative solutions and she made this to me.
Other than that We made good friends, we took awesome pictures, so please go to Kruger Park, just don’t join Nhongo Safaris!
